IOTA, Romania 2019

Fr Daniel Fanous, Dean of St Cyril’s, travelled to Iasi, Romania, to take part in the Inaugural Conference of the International Orthodox Theological Association (IOTA) that met on January 9-12. The historic and remarkable conference, of some 300 international Orthodox scholars, marks the beginning of a new scholarly community that promotes international exchange of knowledge about the Orthodox faith and seeks to become a vehicle of Pan-Orthodox unity.

The keynote address was given by Metropolitan Kallistos Ware, and Fr Daniel presented in the Biblical Studies session on: “Partaking in the Cruciform God: Deification, Justification, and the New Perspective on Paul.” Among sharing in the many excellent papers, Fr Daniel also met with Archpriest Chad Hatfield of St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary (who will be teaching on Mission & Evangelism at St Cyril’s in February 2020), as well as the talented scholars behind the Orthodox Christian Studies Center, Fordham University.
