The series is titled <strong><em>CHRIST AND CULTURE<\/em><\/strong>: each session will explore some aspect of contemporary culture \u2014 whether it be a particular work of fiction, an entire genre or an artistic\/literary form \u2014 and critically engage with it from an Orthodox Christian perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the first session (Saturday 20 November), after praying Vespers together in the College Chapel, Fr Antonios Kaldas (Lecturer in Philosophy) will lead us through a discussion of one of the most beloved works of fiction in the 20th century \u2014 JRR Tolkien&#8217;s The Lord of the Rings \u2014 inviting us to explore the deeply Christian intuitions that pulse beneath the surface of Tolkien&#8217;s epic narratives.
