St Cyril’s Joins SCD

On the 19th of February, St Cyril’s Coptic Orthodox Theological College formally became a Member Institution of the Sydney College of Divinity (SCD). This marks a momentous day in the history of the Coptic Orthodox Church, in that for the first time students may study towards not only undergraduate degrees, but also a Masters degree in Orthodox Theology according to the Coptic tradition.

This historic event is the fruition of a great deal of labour from the staff and Faculty of St Cyril’s, as well as the support and work of the the SCD.

Present at the signing of the MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) between St Cyril’s and the SCD, were the Dean of the SCD, Prof. Diane Speed, Chair of the SCD Academic Board, Prof. Fr. Gerard Kelly, and the President of the SCD, Mr. Peter King; as well as from St Cyril’s, the President, His Grace Bishop Daniel, the Dean, Fr. Daniel Fanous, Director of Ministry, Fr. Mark Basily, Secretary of  College Council, Mr Saad Sefein, Registrar, Mr. Mounir Azer].  After the signing of the MOU, all present shared a meal to celebrate the momentous occasion.
