New Degrees
We are thrilled to add to our suite of offerings several new degrees. As of Semester 1, 2018, students may enrol in the Master of Theological Studies (or its associated Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies and Graduate Diploma of Theological Studies), as well as the Master of Theology.
The Master of Theological Studies is a new degree that is similar to the Master of Arts in its entry requirements, but whereas the MA allows a student to study units from any discipline, the MThSt requires that at least half of the units taken are in the disciplines of Theology and Biblical Studies. As such the MThSt is more specialised degree. Current students may opt to change from the Grad Cert of Arts/Master of Arts to the Grad Cert of Theological Studies/Master of Theological Studies, if they have completed or intend to complete half of their units from Theology (i.e. theology, patristics) or Biblical Studies (including biblical languages). Please contact our Registrar for more information.
The Master of Theology, on the other hand, is a 12 unit (i.e. 1.5 year) postgraduate coursework award. It is designed for those who hold at least a Bachelor of Theology (or equivalent including the Master of Arts or Master of Theological Studies) and who wish to pursue theological studies in greater depth and with greater rigour. It includes either a specialisation in one discipline or subdiscipline, along with the opportunity for a focused research project.
