Curriculum Objectives
This course unit builds on Introduction to Christian Arabic. It consolidates and develops students’ knowledge of Arabic and their ability to translate Christian theological texts.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this unit students will be able to:
- demonstrate familiarity with more advanced morphological and syntactic forms
- utilise a more extensive Arabic vocabulary
- translate more complex Arabic texts into English and make appropriate use of dictionaries, reference grammars, etc.
- Carry out textual criticism
- apply an understanding of Arabic language to the interpretation of basic Arabic theological texts

- Further study of Arabic grammar and syntax
- Textual, lexical, and grammatical study of selected Arabic texts
- Translation of selected Arabic texts
- Further practice in consulting Arabic/English lexicons
