St Cyril’s is delighted to invite you to a new series of Discussion Nights at the college campus in Carlton. The series is titled CHRIST AND CULTURE: each session will explore some aspect of contemporary culture — whether it be a particular work of fiction, an entire genre or an artistic/literary form — and critically engage with it from an Orthodox Christian perspective.

In the first session (Saturday 20 November), after praying Vespers together in the College Chapel, Fr Antonios Kaldas (Lecturer in Philosophy) will lead us through a discussion of one of the most beloved works of fiction in the 20th century — JRR Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings — inviting us to explore the deeply Christian intuitions that pulse beneath the surface of Tolkien’s epic narratives. Snacks and games will be available afterwards.

(Note: Attendance is free, but registration on Eventbrite is required — please go to https://christandculture.eventbrite.com.au
